Smart Groove Machining
(Ongoing Experimental Project)
In Grooving Process, there are cases that require roundness and surface roughness precision and others depending on the application.

In relation to the finishing of both sides of the groove faces, the proper finishing of the groove bottom face depends on the characteristic of the material and by the rigid impact of the cutting edge of the grooving tools. This will force a machining process that cannot afford a tight tolerance such as that of the surface roughness.

This time we are considering this new machining technique to improve the surface roughness on the bottom of the groove and its roundness. This test is conducted to confirm the extent of limit that these can be achieved.

For machining methods that use special tools, at present the confirmation test is still ongoing. The publication is not yet available.
